S7 Configuration (Siemens)

The S7 Configuration tab lets you connect advanced devices to certain industrial controllers to read variables. This is an advanced option and may require activation.

S7 configuration

Optional module

This feature requires the optional "S7 Connector" module. Contact support or your installer to enable it.

What is S7 connection?

S7 connection lets Kodeno read values from some industrial controllers so you can display temperatures, counters, and states in Kodeno.

Note: This is intended for advanced users or installers. If you are not sure about the settings, contact your integrator or support.

How to access

  1. Open your equipment page
  2. Click the Configuration S7 tab
Prerequisites

Make sure the S7 module is enabled in the equipment settings. Ask support if in doubt.

Connection parameters (simple)

This section contains the basic information required to reach the controller. Exact values depend on your setup.

Connection test

After entering parameters, use the connection test. If it fails, contact support with the connection details.

Configure what to read

Instead of low-level details, Kodeno uses a simplified form:

  • Name — Friendly name (e.g. "Oven temperature")
  • Location — Information from your integrator about where the value is located
  • Value type — Simple type (number, text, true/false)

Ask your integrator if you do not know the correct "Location" value.

View and manage

  • Read values appear in the S7 Log tab and can be added to dashboards or charts.
  • You can edit, remove, or reorder configured items.

Sync with equipment

After configuration, click Synchronize to send settings to the equipment. Readings will start if everything is correctly configured.

Troubleshooting (user)

If connection or values do not work:

  • Confirm the S7 module is enabled
  • Ensure the equipment is online
  • Contact support with a clear description and screenshots
tip

For detailed addresses and formats, ask your integrator — these are usually specific to the controller.
